As an independent engineering consultant, I was responsible for saving and investing for my retirement. Initially, like most folks, I retained an experienced money manager to look after my investments. However, after several years, I became dissatisfied with the mediocre investment returns he was achieving and thought I could do better investing on my own. At that time I had no formal education in finance or investing and had never worked in the financial industry. However, I enjoyed reading about investing and since then have read over 250 books on the subject.

Initially, I tried several different investing strategies, as recommended by various financial experts and advisors, however my results were unpredictable and always disappointing. In 2010 I began following a dividend investing strategy, similar to that suggested by Daniel Peris and other successful money managers. This strategy involved investing in a small number of companies that had a history of paying their shareholders a significant and growing dividend. The stategy proved to be very successful such that my investments currently generate an annual dividend income, such that that I am financially independent.

 

I was so pleased with the simplicity and success of the dividend investing strategy, that I decided to create this website so any Canadian citizen who is interested in taking control of their investments, could implement the strategy, with our without the assistance of a financial advisor. ​
